Leo 7 was also known as Kouloukes (τὸν ἐπιλεγόμενον Κουλούκην: Theoph. AM 6263); in 772 he served as notarios under the strategos of the Thrakesion theme, Michael 5 Lachanodrakon (Λέοντα τὸν νοτάριον αὐτοῦ: Theoph. AM 6263); he was sent with Leo 8 to sell all the monasteries and convents in the Thrakesion theme together with their contents: Theoph. AM 6263. See Winkelmann, Quellenstudien, pp. 76 and 153.
