Kosmas 27 was a patrikios; entrusted by the emperor Theophilos (Theophilos 5) with the interrogation and torture of the bishop of Sardis, Euthymios 1; on 26 December 831 at St Andreas (in Bithynia) Kosmas 27 treated Euthymios 1 with such violence that Euthymios 1 died: Acta Davidis, Symeonis et Georgii 22 (238, 8-12), cf. Vita Euthymii Sard. (BHG 2145) 18 (p. 45ff.). See also J. His name occurs only in the Acta Davidis.
