Kosmas 23 was a apo hypaton and genikos kommerkiarios of the apotheke of Mesembria; owner of a seal dateable to 675/676 (see below): Schlumberger, Sig. , p. 112, no. 1 = p. 472, no. 1 (facsimile). Obv.: image of the emperor Constantine IV (Konstantinos 2), with the date ι(νδ) δ (indiction four, i.e. 675/676) and the legend Κοσμα α...πατω.. Rev.: .... - ικου κο - .με..ηα - .ιου αποθικ - .ς Μ.σημ - ...ας. The name and titles read: Κοσμᾶ ἀπὸ ὑπάτων καὶ γενικοῦ κομμερκιαρίου ἀποθήκης Μεσημβρίας. This seal was apparently published by Mordtmann, Hell. Philol. Syll. XIII, 1879/80, Suppl. (it was owned by Sorlat-Dorigny, who sent the facsimile which Schlumberger published on p. 472).
