Kosmas 22 was a basilikos spatharokandidatos and protonotarios of Thessalonike; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth or tenth century: Schlumberger, Sig., p. 103, 2. Obv.: cross, with the invocative formula The name and titles read:

Dated by Schlumberger to the time of the last iconoclast emperors (early/mid ninth century), the seal is redated by Shandrovskaya, Sfragistika II 849 (cited as Katal. II 849 in Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 127) to late ninth or first half of the tenth century.
