Kosmas 19 was a basilikos spatharios and kommerkiarios of Thessalonike; owner of several seals dateable to the ninth century: DOSeals I 18. 38a-h (c= Zacos and Veglery 2087b; e= Zacos and Veglery 2087a). All have the same alignment and perhaps belonged to the same person. A note in Nebitt and Oikonomides, DO Seals I, p. 66 suggests identifying Kosmas 19 with the merchant who helped provoke the war of 894 between Byzantium and the Bulgars; see PBE II.
