Konstantinos 107 was bishop of Herakleia Pontou; owner of a seal dateable to the late eighth or early ninth century (see below): Zacos and Veglery 1331 = Laurent, Corpus V 1, no. 302. Obv.: Virgin and Child between monograms of Θεοτόκε βοήθει and τῷ σῷ δούλῳ. Rev.: [+]Κωνστ - αντίνῳ ε - πισκώπ - ῳ Ἡρακλ - [εί]ας Πό(ντου). On the restoration of Πόντου (instead of πόλεως, which Laurent restored), see Nesbitt and Oikonomides, DO Seals I, p. 136, note, and Zacos and Veglery, Seals, loc. cit. Laurent gives the ninth century as the date, but the appearance of Virgin and Child between monograms was characteristic of the iconophile reaction of 787 to 815; see Nesbitt and Oikonomides, op. cit., p. 36, note on 7.1. See also Konstantinos 86. Cf. also Nikolaos 20.
