Konstantinos 31 was a man of learning and good sense (see below); he served under Konstantinos 30 Baboutzikos as notarios and was carried off with him into captivity by the Arabs after the fall of Amorion in 838; he was included among the forty-two martyrs when they were executed after seven years in captivity; during their captivity (on 5 March, the day before their execution) he was approached by the renegade Boiditzes 1 with a promise of their lives if they would abjure their faith; he rejected the suggestion and composed an account of the incident and of his employer Konstantinos 30's acceptance of death: Mart.
