Khalid 1 was the father of Abderachman (Abd ar-Rahman 9): Theoph. AM 6156 (ὁ τοῦ Χαλέδου), Tabari XVIII, pp. 87, 88, 89. He was Khalid b. al-Walid, the "Sword of Allah"; cf. PLRE III, p. 761, Encyclopaedia of Islam IV, p. 928, s.n. Khalid b. al-Walid.
