A Stoudite monk, Kalogeros 1 is mentioned in several surviving letters of Theodore the Stoudite (Theodoros 15), written between c. 809 and 816, some of which he delivered: Theod. Stud., Epp. 15, pp. 45-46 (line 5); 26, pp. 71-72 (line 48); 41, pp. 121-122 (line 7); 48, pp. 129-139 (line 101); 72, pp. 192-193 (line 23); 100, p. 219 (line 17); 105, pp. 222-223 (line 3); 115, pp. 234-235 (line 25); 401, pp. 556-557 (line 17). He was possibly a relative of Theodoros 15: Theod. Stud., Ep. 401, pp. 556-557 (Theodoros 15 laments that now that Kalogeros 1 and Platon 1 (uncle of Theodoros) are dead, only his brother survives). Once when Theodoros 15 fell ill, Kalogeros 1 was named as his successor: Theod. Stud., Ep. 15, p. 45, line 5. In c. 809 he shared Theodoros 15's exile: Theod. Stud., Ep. 48, p. 133, line 101; cf. Ep. 26, pp. 71-72 (Theodoros 15 sends greetings from him to Symeon 26). He was one of the Stoudite monks whom Theodoros 15 proposed to refer to by a letter code, for security reasons: Theod. Stud., Ep. 41, pp. 121-122. He died in 815 or 816: Theod. Stud., Ep. 72, p. 192, line 23.
