Isoes 2 was a priest; in 787 he attended the Second Council of Nikaia (the Seventh Ecumenical Council) as representative of the see of Thyateira; he is attested at the fourth and seventh sessions and perhaps was present at the last five sessions, from 1 October to 23 November 787: Mansi XIII 144-486. In the list of those present at the seventh session he is styled Ἰσωΐου πρεσβυτέρου καὶ τοποτηρητοῦ τοῦ Θυατρίων (sic): Mansi XIII 369 (a marginal note at XIII 369 records the variant Θηατήρων; the Latin version, at XIII 370, calls him: "Nesorio" (sic) "presbytero et loci servatore Thyaterensium"). Elsewhere he is styled Ἰσώης πρεσβύτερος καὶ ἐκ προσώπου τοῦ θρόνου Θυατήρων: Mansi XIII 144. At the fourth session he subscribed the statements read out from the Fathers in support of the veneration of icons: Mansi XIII 144. His name is missing from the list of those who subscribed the statement of the faith adopted by the Council at the seventh session, but he was present at that session and the omission is perhaps due to a defect in the text.
