Ioulianos 1 was apo hypaton and genikos kommerkiarios of the apotheke of Crete; owner of a seal dateable to 688/690: Likhachev, "Datirovannye", pp. 176-177 = Oikonomides, Dated Seals, pp. 35-36, no. 22 = Tsougarakis, SBS 2, p. 146, no. 14. The obverse has the legend Ιουλιανο. - .πο υπατων, symbols which indicate a second and a third indiction and the letters β το. Rev.: (καὶ) γενι - κου κομμ - ερκιαρι - ου αποθηκ - ης Κρητ - ης. The inscription reads: Ἰουλιανο[ῦ ἀ]πὸ ὑπάτων (καὶ) γενικοῦ κομμερκιαρίου ἀποθήκης Κρήτης. The obverse of the seal also carries the image of an emperor, who may be Justinian II (Iostinianos 1), giving the date 688-690. The letters β το on the obverse perhaps mean: (δεύτερος) τό(πος).
