Seal SourcesZacos G., and Nesbitt, J., Byzantine Lead Seals, vol. II (in 3 parts), (Berne, 1984).

Ioseph 15 was abydikos and kommerkiarios of Thessalonike and Kephallenia; owner of a seal dateable to the second half of the ninth century: Zacos II 1075. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: +Ιωσιφ - αβ' (καὶ) κουμε - ρκ' Θεσσαλο - (καὶ) Κεφαλ' - ονηας. The name and titles read: Ιωσὴφ ἀβυδικῷ καὶ κουμερκιαρίῳ Θεσσαλονίκης καὶ Κεφαλονίας. According to a note of Zacos and Nesbitt, Seals, loc. cit., a second seal belonging to the same person is preserved in the Dumbarton Oaks Collection. The obverse is the same as above. The reverse reads: +Ιωσιφ - β' β' (καὶ) αβυδι - κ' (καὶ) κουμ' Θες - α' Δυσ' θεμ - ατ' Ελαδ', which is interpreted to mean: Ἰωσὴφ βασιλικῷ βαλνίτωρι καὶ ἀβυδικῷ καὶ κουμερκιαρίῳ Θεσσαλονίκης Δύσεως θέματος Ἑλλάδος.
