Ioannes 526 was a deacon and kouboukleisios; he was the addressee of a letter from Ignatius the Deacon (Ignatios 9) alluding to the hardships that had befallen Ignatios 9 since he last met Ioannes 526; Ioannes 526 had been ill but news of his recovery rejoiced Ignatios 9: Ignatius Diac., Ep. 5 (addressed Ἰωάννῃ διακόνῳ καὶ κουβουκλεισίῳ).
