Ioannes 514 was patrikios and strategos of the Anatolikoi; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth century: SBS 3, p. 202, no. 1264. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε with βοήθει in the corners. The text of the reverse reads: +[Ἰωάνν]ῃ πατρικίῳ καὶ στρατηγῷ τῶν Ἀνατολικῶν. On the date, see Nesbitt and Oikonomides, DO Seals III, p. 161, note on 86.53.
