Ioannes 512 was a metropolitan bishop, probably of Chalcedon (see below); owner of a seal dateable to the seventh century: DOSeals III 77.2 = Laurent, Corpus V 3, no. 1716 = Zacos and Veglery 1244. Obv.: St Euphemia standing, with the legend: η - αγ - ια - ε - υ - φη - μ. Rev.: +Ιωα - ννου μ - ητροπο - λιτου. The use of an image of St Euphemia on the seal suggests that the see was Chalcedon.
