Ioannes 508 was basilikos protospatharios and domestikos of the Optimatoi; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth or tenth century: DOSeals III 71.8. Obv.: patriarchal cross on steps, with a circular inscription reading: +Κε βοηθη τω σω δουλο. Rev.: +Ιωανη - β' α' σπαθ' - δομεστη - κ' των Ωπ - τηματον. The name and titles read: Ἰωάνῃ βασιλικῷ πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ, δομεστήκῳ τῶν Ὠπτημάτον.
