Textual SourcesLateran Council = Concilium Lateranense anno 649 celebratum, ed. R. Riedinger, ACO II 1 (Berlin, 1984) (conciliar)

Ioannes 479 was bishop of Vicosabinae; he attended all five sessions of the Lateran Council, from 5 October to 31 October 649, and in the list of bishops present is named in ninety-ninth place: Conc. Lat., p. 6, line 28 (Ἰωάννου ἐπισκόπου Βικοσαβίνης), p. 7, line 28 ("Iohanne Vicosabinate episcopo") (the first session), cf. pp. 35, 115, 181 and 251 (the Latin version only is repeated for the other sessions). He subscribed the definition of the faith agreed by the Council at its fifth session: Conc. Lat., p. 400, line 21 (Ἰωάννης ἐπίσκοπος Βικοσαβίνης), p. 401, line 21 ("Iohannis episcopus sanctae Vicosabinatis ecclesiae"). The identification of his see is uncertain; Sabina in Valeria is possible but Vicohabentia in Flaminia is more likely given his place on the list of names and the sees of adjacent bishops (in Istria, Flaminia and Venetia).
