Ioannes 440 was a monk in the monastery of Antidios (Ἰωάννου δὲ μοναχοῦ τῆς αὐτῆς μονῆς) (in Bithynia); present with St Ioannikios (Ioannikios 2) when the latter visited the Church of St John the Baptist, then under construction, at the monastery: Sabas, Vita Ioannicii 38. The date was either late in the reign of Michael II (Michael 10) or during that of Theophilos 5; see Ioannikios 2.
