Ioannes 405 was a metropolitan bishop of Pompeioupolis (in Cilicia); owner of a seal dateable to the late eighth or early ninth century: Zacos and Veglery 2029 = Laurent, Corpus V 2, no. 1555. The name and title read: Ἰωάννῃ ἁμαρτωλῷ μητροπολίτῃ Πομπηϊουπόλεως. The city was Pompeioupolis in Cilicia, which was an autocephalous metropolitan see by the ninth century; Pompeioupolis in Paphlagonia did not acquire that status until later; see Beck, Kirche, pp. 168, 192.
