Ioannes 284 was ostiarios; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth or ninth century (but see below): Konstantopoulos, JIAN 6, 447. The name and title read: Ἰωάννῃ [ὀ]στη[α]ρήῳ. According to Seibt, Bleisiegel, p. 159, this seal should be dated to the eleventh century ("es stammt nämlich aus dem 11.Jh."). Cf. also Ioannes 176.
