Ioannes 278 was hypatos; probably owner of several similar seals dateable to the eighth or ninth century, possibly to the first half of the eighth (see below): Konstantopoulos, JIAN 7, 563, 564 (both read: Ἰωά[νν]ου ὑπ[ά]του) and 566 (reads: Ἰωάννῃ ὑπάτῳ), cf. Zacos and Veglery 2013 and 3028a and b (similar readings). Konstantopoulos dates the seals to the eighth or ninth century; Zacos and Veglery date 2013 to the eighth century and 3028a and b to the first half of the eighth century.
