Ioannes 218 was basilikos spatharokandidatos, epi ton oikeiakon and dioiketes of the Peloponnesos; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth or tenth century: Schlumberger, Sig., p. 180, no. 4 = Mordtmann, "Plombs" I, p. 294, no. 10 = Bon, Péloponnèse, p. 188, no. 13. All the editors date the seal under the Macedonian dynasty. Obv.: Κύριε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ. Rev.: Ἰω(άννῃ) β(ασιλικῷ) σ(π)αθ(αρο)κανδ(ιδάτῳ) (π)ὶ τ(ῶν) οἰκειακ(ῶν) (καὶ) διοικητ(ῇ) [Π]ελοπο(ν)νή(σου). For a closely similar seal, whose owner's name is lost, see Anonymus 104.
