Schlumberger, G. Sigillographie de l'empire byzantin (Paris, 1884)

Ioannes 217 was the owner of a seal; he was possibly son of Epiphanios 22 whose name is on the reverse of the seal: Schlumberger, Sig., p. 722, no. 4 (facsimile). Obv.: cruciform monogram of the name Ιωαννου. Rev.: image of a ram with the legend: + Επιφανιου. Perhaps the name in monogram is that of the owner and the other his father, rather than the joint owner. Possibly identical with the owner of another identical seal, Konstantopoulos, JIAN 8, 908 (this may be in fact one and the same seal).
