Ioannes 199 was basilikos protospatharios and droungarios of the Aigaion Pelagos; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century: Schlumberger, Sig., p. 193, no. 1 = p. 339, no. 5 = Mordtmann, "Plombs" II, p. 56, no. 39. Obv.: invocative monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with the legend τω - σω - δου - λω. Rev.: Ἰωάννῃ β(ασιλικῷ) (πρωτο)σπ(αθαρίῳ) (καὶ) δρουγ(γαρίῳ) τ(οῦ) Αἰγε(ίου) Πελάγους. No line divisions are recorded by Schlumberger. Perhaps identical with Ioannes 200. Cf. Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 109.
