Ioannes 185 was bishop of Chaldia; owner of a seal dateable to the early ninth century: Laurent, Corpus V 1, no. 659. Obv.: invocative monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει. Rev.: [+][Ι]ωα[ν] - .η επης - κοπο Χα - λδηας. The name and title read: Ἰωάννῃ ἐπισκόπῳ Χαλδίας. On the title and the name of the bishopric, see Laurent, op. cit., pp. 496-497, note. His see was at Trebizond.
