Ioannes 151 was archon and paraphylax of Crete; owner of two seals dateable to the eighth or ninth century: DOSeals II 36.5 = Zacos and Veglery 2001b, Zacos and Veglery 2001a, cf. Tsougarakis, SBS 2, p. 147, no. 21 (two specimens). Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with τω - δ. - λω - σου in the corners. Rev.: +Ιωα - .νη αρχ - .ντι και παρ - .φυλακη Κ - ρητης+. The text on the reverse reads: Ἰωάννῃ ἄρχοντι καὶ παραφύλακι Κρήτης. On the duties of the paraphylax, see ODB III, p. 1585, s.v. paraphylax.
