Ioannes 124 was bishop of Prainetos in Bithynia; in 787 he attended the Second Council of Nikaia (the Seventh Ecumenical Council), where he is attested only at the seventh session on 13 October 787; in the list of those present he is styled Ἰωάννου ἐπισκόπου Πραινέτου: Mansi XIII 373. At the seventh session he subscribed the statement of the faith adopted by the Council; he is styled Ἰωάννης ἀνάξιος ἐπίσκοπος Πραινέτου: Mansi XIII 397.
