Ioannes 122 was bishop of the island of Lemnos; in 787 he attended the Second Council of Nikaia (the Seventh Ecumenical Council), where he is attested only at the seventh session on 13 October 787; in the list of those present at the session he is styled Ἰωάννου ἐπισκόπου Λήμνου: Mansi XIII 373. At the seventh session he subscribed the statement of the faith adopted by the Council; he is styled Ἰωάννης ἀνάξιος ἐπίσκοπος τοῦ Λίμβου (sic): Mansi XIII 392 (the Latin version, at XIII 391, also calls him: "episcopus Limbi"). On the place name, cf. also Theodoros 98.
