Ioannes 114 was a bishop, probably of Salona in Dalmatia; in 787 he attended the Second Council of Nikaia (the Seventh Ecumenical Council) and is attested at the fourth and seventh sessions, on 1 October and 13 October 787; he was probably present at the last five sessions, from 1 October to 23 November 787: Mansi XIII 140-486. In the list of those present at the seventh session he is styled Ἰωάννου ἐπισκόπου τῆς ἁγίας Σαλονηντίας: Mansi XIII 368 (the Latin version, at XIII 366-367, calls his see: "sanctae Salonentiae"). Elsewhere he is styled Ἰωάννης ἐπίσκοπος τῆς ἁγίας Σαλονηντιάνης, Mansi XIII 140 (the Latin, at XIII 139, reads: "Salonentianae"); and Ἰωάννης ἐπίσκοπος τῆς ἁγίας Σαλουντιανῆς ἐκκλησίας, Mansi XIII 388 (the Latin, at XIII 387, reads: "sanctae Saluntianensis ecclesiae"). His see is presumably to be identified with Salona in Dalmatia. At the fourth session he subscribed the statements read out from the Fathers in support of the veneration of icons: Mansi XIII 140. At the seventh session he subscribed the statement of the faith adopted by the Council: Mansi XIII 388.
