Ioannes 47 was bishop of Stobi in Macedonia; in 681 he attended the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) and was present at two of the last three sessions (sessions sixteen and eighteen, on 9 August and 16 September): Riedinger II 2. 688-825 (= Mansi XI 613-673). In the subscriptions to the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, and to the Council, he is styled Ἰωάννης ἐλέει Θεοῦ ἐπίσκοπος (Riedinger II 2. 825, line 13 (= Mansi XI 673) reads: ἀνάξιος ἐπίσκοπος) τῆς Στοβέων πόλεως: Riedinger II 2. 784, line 17, 825, line 13 (= Mansi XI 645, 673). In the lists of those present at each session he is styled Ἰωάννου ἐπισκόπου Στόβων: Riedinger II 2. 688, line 2, 758, line 7 (= Mansi XI 613, 628). His name is included in the list of bishops printed in Riedinger II 2. 738, line 8 (= Mansi XI 696), where he is styled Ἰωάννης ἐλέει Θεοῦ ἐπίσκοπος πόλεως Στοβῶν.
