Ioannes 45 was bishop of Pessinous in Galatia Secunda; in 681 he attended the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) and was present at two of the last three sessions (sessions sixteen and eighteen, from 9 August to 16 September): Riedinger II 2. 686-823 (= Mansi XI 613-672). In the subscriptions to the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, and to the Council, he is styled Ἰωάννης ἐλάχιστος ἐπίσκοπος (Riedinger II 2. 823, line 27 (= Mansi XI 672) reads: ἐλέει Θεοῦ ἐπίσκοπος) τῆς Πισινουντιέων μητροπόλεως τῆς δευτέρας τῶν Γαλατῶν ἐπαρχίας: Riedinger II 2. 782, lines 13-14, 823, lines 27-28, cf. II 2. 892, lines 27-28 (= Mansi XI 644, 672, cf. XI 692) (the old Latin version printed in Riedinger II 2. 783, line 13 (= Mansi XI 643), calls his see "Pisinunti metropoleos secundae Galatiae regionis"). In the lists of those present at each session he is styled Ἰωάννου ἐπισκόπου Πισινούντων: Riedinger II 2. 686, line 6, 756, line 12 (= Mansi XI 613, 625). He was among the signatories to the copy of the definition of the faith that was sent to the bishop of Rome, Agatho 1, signing on behalf of himself and the bishops under him: Riedinger II 2. 892, lines 27-28 (= Mansi XI 692).
