Ioannes 13 was hypatos and archon of the blattion; owner of two similar seals dated probably to 729/730 (see below): Zacos and Veglery 240a and b = Laurent, Corpus II, no. 648. The name and titles read: Ἰωάννῃ ὑπάτῳ καὶ ἄρχοντι τοῦ βλα[ττ]ίου. This man is probably identical with Ioannes hypatos, chrysepsetes and archon of the blattion, owner of several seals dated probably to 730/731 (see below) which differ only slightly from the above: Zacos and Veglery 241a, b and c = Laurent, Corpus II, no. 649A and B = Oikonomides, Dated Seals, pp. 43-44, no. 31. The inscription reads: obv.: Ι - ω - α - ν - ν - η - [υ] - π - α - τ - ω; rev.: [χρ]υ - σεπσητη - (και) αρχοντ - η του βλ - αττιου. For the reconstruction, cf. Oikonomides, op. cit., p. 43. The seal is dated on the obverse to a fourteenth indiction and has also on the obverse the image of two standing emperors; for the identification of these as Leo III (Leo 3) and Constantine V (Konstantinos 7), and for the date, either 730/731 or 745/746, but probably the former, see Oikonomides, loc. cit. For further details of his career, see Zacos 161; and cf. also Ioannes 202.
