Iakobos 12 was basilikos spatharios and xenodochos of Nikomedeia; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century (DOSeals), possibly to the second half (Zacos and Veglery): DOSeals III 83.4 = Zacos and Veglery 1995, cf. Laurent, "Sceaux" III, 41-42. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: +Ιακω - βω β' σπαθ' - και ξενοδο - χ' Νικομ'. The name and titles read: Ἰακώβῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ καὶ ξενοδόχῳ Νικομηδείας.
