Baptised Hypatia; when Hypatia 4 became a nun she took the name Febronia; daughter of a rich and pious family, she was determined to become a nun against the wishes of her mother; she lost her voice and was only cured by Symeon the Stylite (Symeon 13); Symeon 13 then gave the tonsure to her, her mother and her sister, and gave her the name Febronia; this happened during the rebellion of Thomas the Slav (Thomas 7) (821/823): Acta Davidis, Symeonis et Georgii 19 (234, 7-236, 8)(?).
