Hardianos 17 was the owner of seals dateable to the eighth century; he is styled pistos doulos ("faiful servant/slave") of the Holy Trinity: Zacos and Veglery 624a and 624b. Both seals have the same obverse, an eagle with raised wings and a cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει. The reverse of 624a has a cruciform monogram of Αδριανω and an inscription reading: +πιστο δουλο τις αγιας τρια[ δοσ]; that of 624b has also a cruciform monogram of Αδριανω and an inscription reading: +πιστω δουλω τις αγιας τριαδος. Zacos and Veglery record two additional seals, both similar to 624b. The name and title read: Ἁδριανῷ πιστῷ δούλῳ τῆς Ἁγίας Τριάδος. Hadrianos 17 was probably a monk of a monastery of the Holy Trinity. There was a monastery of the Holy Trinity on the island of Chalke, though that was supposedly founded by the patriarch Photios 1; see Beck, Kirche, p. 217.
