Gregorios 15 was bishop of Kantanon in Crete; he attended the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) in 680 and 681 and was present at all eighteen sessions: Riedinger, II 2. 18-825 (= Mansi XI 212-673). In the subscriptions to the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, and to the Council he is styled Γρηγόριος ἐλέει Θεοῦ ἐπίσκοπος Καντάνου τῆς Κρητῶν νήσου: Riedinger, II 2. 784, line 19, II 2. 825, line 20 (= Mansi XI 645, 673). In the lists of those attending each session he is styled Γρηγορίου ἐπισκόπου Καντάνου: Riedinger, II 2. 18, line 15, II 2. 30, line 17 etc. (= Mansi XI 212, 220, etc.) (The Latin versions of these lists occasionally give his name as "Georgius").
