Gisela 1 was daughter of the Frankish king, Pepin 1; in 765 the emperor Constantine V (Konstantinos 7) sent two envoys to Pepin, viz. Anthimos 17 and Synesios 2, to discuss a possible marriage between Gisela 1 and the son of Konstantinos 7, Leo 4: MGH, Epp. III 1, 545ff.
