Gisa 1 was daughter of Grimoald 3 and sister of Romoald 1; in 663 she was received as a hostage by the emperor Constans (Konstans 1) when he negotiated his withdrawal from Beneventum with Romoald 1: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. V 8 ("acceptaque obside Romualdi sororem, cui nomen Gisa fuit, cum eodem pacem fecit", sc. "Constans"). She was taken to Sicily by Constans, where she died: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. V 14 ("porro regis filiam, quam de Benevento obsidis nomine sublatam diximus, Siciliam veniens, diem clausit extremum"). She also had a sister, Anonyma 49.
