Germanos 1 was bishop of Tarentum in Calabria; he was one of the hundred and twenty-five Western bishops who attended the Council of Rome at Easter 680, and who subscribed the decree condemning monotheletism: Riedinger II 2. 142, lines 13-15 (= Mansi XI 299-300) (Γερμανὸς ἐλάχιστος ἐπίσκοπος τῆς ἁγίας ἐκκλησίας Τερεντοῦ ἐπαρχίας Καλαβρίας; his see is identified in the old Latin version printed in Riedinger II 2. 143, line 13, as "Tarantinae ecclesiae prouinciae Calabriae").
