Gerasimos 1 was a monk in the monastery of Kathara in the early ninth century; he is recorded with Barsanouphios 2 in a sermon of Theodore the Stoudite (Theodoros 15), from which it appears that both monks held office in the Kathara monastery; Gerasimos 1 was a spiritual son (τέκνον) of Theodoros 15: Theod. Stud., Catech. Magna II 64 (p. 449 Papadopoulos-Kerameus).
