Georgios 224 was deacon and xenodochos; addressee of five letters from the patriarch Photius (Photios 1), mainly criticising him for his drunkenness, gluttony and avarice: Photius, Ep. 46 ((I 92 Laourdas-Westerink), Ep. 62 (I 106 Laourdas-Westerink), Ep. 89 (I 127f. Laourdas-Westerink), Ep. 90 (I 128 Laourdas-Westerink), Ep. 96 (I 131 Laourdas-Westerink) (all addressed Γεωργίῳ διακόνῳ καὶ ξενοδόχῳ or similar). Apart from Ep. 62, of uncertain date, all were probably written between 859 and September 867.
