A hypatos, Georgios 219 was the owner of a seal dateable between the eighth and tenth centuries: Gray Birch, BMSeals 17649. The name and title read: Γεωργίῳ ὑπάτῳ. Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 135, suggested that the reading of Gray Birch is an error, arguing that this seal is identical with the one published as Zacos and Veglery 1920 (reading Γεωργίῳ ἐπόπτῃ). Zacos and Veglery, however, considered but rejected this idea; see Zacos and Veglery, Seals, p. 1957 and Georgios 211.
