Georgios 199 was hypatos, basilikos protospatharios, dioiketes and rektor of Kalabria; owner of a seal dateable to the second half of the eighth century: Zacos and Veglery 1477. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Χριστὲ, βοήθει, with circular inscription reading: τω σω πιστω δουλω Γεωργιωι. Rev.: circular inscription reading: +υπατω β' πρωτοσπαθαριω, surrounding the legend διοικ' - κ' ρεκ' - Καλα - βρ'. The name and titles read: Γεωργίῳ ὑπάτῳ, βασιλικῷ πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ, διοικητῇ καὶ ρέκτορι Καλαβρίας. Cf. Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 32.
