Georgios 76 was archbishop of Serres; owner of a seal dateable to the early or mid ninth century: DOSeals I 42.1 = Laurent, Corpus V 3, no. 1818 = Zacos and Veglery 1914. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with τω - σω - δου - λω. Rev.: +Γεορ - γηο. Αρχη - επισκοπ - ου Σερας. Nesbitt and Oikonomides date the seal before the mid ninth century from the form of the beta; on this and on the syntax, and their resolution of a difficulty, see Nesbitt and Oikonomides, DO Seals, p. 109, note.
