Georgios 31 was bishop of the island of Naxos; in 681 he attended the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) and was present at two of the last three sessions (sessions sixteen and eighteen, on August 9 and September 16): Riedinger, pp. 692-826 (= Mansi XI 616-676). In the subscriptions to the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, and to the Council he is styled Γεώργιος ἐλέει Θεοῦ ἐπίσκοπος Ναξίας τῆς νήσου (Riedinger, p. 794, line 27 (= Mansi 676) reads τῆς Ναξίων νήσου): Riedinger, p. 794, line 27, p. 826, line 31 (= Mansi XI 653, 676). In the lists of those present at each session he is styled Γεωργίου ἐπισκόπου Ναξίας: Riedinger, p. 692, line 24, p. 764, line 3 (= Mansi XI 616, 629).
