Georgios 29 was bishop of Oinianda in Lycia; in 681 he attended the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) and was present at two of the last three sessions (sessions sixteen and eighteen, on August 9 and September 16): Riedinger, pp. 692-828 (= Mansi XI 616-678). In the subscriptions to the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, and to the Council he is styled Γεώργιος ἐλέει Θεοῦ ἐπίσκοπος πόλεως Οἰνιάνδων (Riedinger, p. 828, line 1 (= Mansi XI 677) reads: ἐπίσκοπος Οἰνιάνδων): Riedinger, p. 794, line 1, p. 828, line 1 (= Mansi XI 652, 677). The old Latin version printed in Riedinger, p. 795, line 1, calls his see "ciuitatis Oeniandorum". That printed in Mansi, XI 651, calls it "civitatis Oeniandenorum" ( so 651; 678 reads: "Oeniandorum") "Cariae provinciae": Mansi XI 651, 678. In the lists of those present at each session he is styled Γεωργίου ἐπισκόπου Οἰνιάνδων: Riedinger, p. 692, line 5, p. 762, line 15 (= Mansi XI 616, 629). It is not clear why Oinianda is placed in the province of Caria in the Latin text. For Oinianda (Oenoanda) in Lycia, cf. Jones, Cities, p. 532. He was still bishop in 692, when he attended the Quinisext Council and signed the canons: Ohme, Bischofsliste, p. 162, no. 157 (= Mansi XI 1001) (Γεώργιος ἐπίσκοπος Ὑνιάνδου ἐπαρχίας Λυκίας).
