Georgios 22 was a priest and monk of the monastery of Renatus at Rome. He attended the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) in 680 and 681 and was present at all eighteen sessions: Riedinger, pp. 18-764 (= Mansi XI 212-629). In the lists of those attending each session he is styled Γεωργίου τοῦ εὐλαβεστάτου πρεσβυτέρου καὶ μοναχοῦ μονῆς τῶν Ῥενάτης διακειμένης ἐν τῇ πρεσβυτέρᾳ Ῥώμῃ (or similar): Riedinger, p. 18, line 22, p. 30, line 24, etc. (= Mansi XI 212, 220, etc.) (the old Latin version printed in Riedinger, p. 19, line 21, p. 31, line 23 etc., always calls his monastery "monasterii Renati positi in antiqua Roma"). He was neither a bishop nor the representative of a bishop and therefore his signature does not occur among the subscriptions to either the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, or to the Council itself.
