Georgios 4 was one of the leading supporters of the revolt of Sergios 3 and Basilios (Tiberios 3) in Sicily in 717/718 and apparently one of those appointed to high office; with other rebels he was executed by Paulos 7 and his head was sent to the emperor Leo III (Leo 3): Nic. Brev. de Boor 55, Mango 55. He may be identical with the unnamed monostrategos of Tiberios 3, executed and beheaded together with Tiberios 3 by Paulos 7, who sent their heads to the emperor Leo at Constantinople: Theoph. AM 6210 (σὺν τῷ μονοστρατήγῳ).
