Genesios 2 was the son of Konstantinos 41 and brother of Thomas 9: Leo Gramm. 249 (ὁ πατὴρ Θωμᾶ πατρικίου καὶ γενεσίου), Ps.-Symeon 681 (ὁ πατὴρ Θωμᾶ πατρικίου καὶ Γενεσίου δρουγγαρίου τῆς βίγλας). The post of droungarios of the Vigla was probably borne by his father, not by Genesios. The name of Genesios has disappeared completely from the parallel passage in Georg. Mon. Cont. 835. The similar passage in Theophanes Continuatus (IV 36, p. 198) also contains no mention of Genesios (Κωνσταντῖνος ὁ πατρικίου Θωμᾶ καὶ γεγονότος λογοθέτου τοῦ δρόμου πατὴρ), but reads oddly and may be a garbled version of a text in which the name of Genesios once appeared. He is to be identified, perhaps, with the historian Ioseph Genesios (PBE II).
