Genesios 1 was bishop of Anastasiopolis in Galatia Prima; he attended the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) in 680 and 681 and was present at all eighteen sessions: Riedinger, pp. 18-826 (= Mansi XI 212-676). In the subscriptions to the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, he is styled Γενέσιος ἐλέει Θεοῦ ἐπίσκοπος τῆς Ἀναστασιουπολιτῶν πόλεως τῆς πρώτης τῶν Γαλατῶν ἐπαρχίας: Riedinger, p. 788, line 24 (= Mansi XI 648). In the subscriptions to the Council he is styled Γενέσιος ἐλέει Θεοῦ ἐπίσκοπος Ἀναστασιουπόλεως: Riedinger, p. 826, line 18 (= Mansi XI 676). In the Latin version of the subscriptions his see is called "Anastasiupolitane ciuitatis primae Galatiae regionis": Riedinger, p. 789, line 25 (= Mansi XI 647). In the lists of those attending each session he is called Γενεσίου ἐπισκόπου Ἀναστασιουπόλεως: Riedinger, p. 18, line 4, p. 30, line 6, etc. (= Mansi XI 212, 220, etc.). At the eighth session (7 March 681) he declared his acceptance of the doctrine of Two Natures, Two Wills and Two Energies as set out in documents from pope Agatho 1 and the Roman Council: Riedinger, p. 202, line 1 (= Mansi XI 340).
